Website Domain Registry Records is it your Details or Your Developers?

Website owners can be an individual student to an estabilished and registered company. The domain is the key identity of the website. As a website owner  one should be aware of some basic information that can held as a key to the possesion of the domains.Just like when a person buys a property he has all the registration papers associated with the propert and he secures and keeps it under his or her possession and not kept with the property agents. Same applies to the intellectual properties beat any patents or registering a domain names. The internet and the Facebook awareness might be attaining new scales, but the many times the website owners despite paid for the domain registration may not be still aware where are the details or domain registrations OR whether legally the domain is under their control.

If you have a website and a domain make sure you ask for all details from your developer, if you developer has registered the domain name of your website. You can request for the domain registry records from your developer or even check the domain registry records..simply GOOGLE WHO IS domain registry record, and you can find many websites that provides the WHOIS DOMAIN REGISTRY  RECORDS for the domain. Information displayed by the whois domain registry records should be the details of the domain owner not the website developer. In case you see the data in the WHO IS registry records not your details, its the time you give all priorities to get your details in the domain registry records
when we buy any property or register a company name we insist all details registered to be our name or associates name and not the name of the agent , broker consultants registering the property ( IGNORE ILLEGAL BENAMI PROPERTY) that we pay  have paid. If you come to know that it was'nt registered on your name and is registered under a name that you never suggested with all the contact details  thats not you or your associates, then your property can enter into dispute.

This goes true for domain also, as domain are intellectual properties and all contact details in the domain registry records should be the name of the domain owner and not the developer. If you find that non of your contact details are  mentioned in the WHO IS DOMAIN REGISTRY records, its time to rethink and make your developer or the person registering domain justify the reason WHY NOT YOUR NAME..?? or else get the details modified and move out from the existing developer. The developer may not have foul intention but then its never suggested to stay with a developer who not aware of the basic legalities of the domain....

Domain many times enter into dispute not because domain is held as hostage for some foul intention of the developers or freelancers, but mainly can be that the developer and the person registering the domain is not traceable as could be, he closed his business and opted for a job.. Domain are generally registered for an year, and renewed every year. The issue can be raised when its renewal time and the developer is not traceable by the website owner leading domain to expiry..and redemption and finally gone to new owner.
