Benami Properties Crackdown: Next Punch From Modi's Government Against Corruption

As the first anniversary of the demonetization approaches '8th November', Prime Minister shri Narendra Modi seems to be setting up a launching pad for his next anti corruption missile launch that relates to the the crackdown of the benami properties. This will hit hard all the corrupt individuals that have registered various properties under the benami properties. While addressing in an election rally in Sundernagar, Himachal Pradesh, Prime Minister said the Congress' campaign against demonetization was driven by its attempts to mislead the people and create an atmosphere against him before he can raise a "storm" over benami assets.

The opposition party has decided to observe November 8 as a “black day” to protest demonetization. Modi said by lighting some candles and provoking some people, they would not be able to refrain him from moving ahead with his movement to crush benami properties. Prime Minister Narendra Modi The time has come to return to the poor what had been stolen of them.... I am going to create a situation that they (Congress leaders) would not be able to reclaim their benami assets

Modi stacked contempt over Congress' choice to watch the principal commemoration of demonetization on November 8 as a "black day", saying it really was "black money day" for the opposition. While addressing rallies in survey bound state, Modi said the Congress would set his image on blaze, since his transgression was that he is battling against corruption.
Quoting himself as a disciple of Shri Sardar Patel, the prime minister said he will not be cowed down by these tactics of his oppositions.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Their worry is that the benami assets like land, flats, shops they have kept hidden, like Rs 500 and Rs 1000 notes, are not going to be spared. Therefore, they are creating an atmosphere so that before Modi raises a storm over benami assets, they observe black money day and mislead the people

A 'benami' property is one where the person who pays for it buys it in the name of some other person. There would be many Congress leaders, the prime minister claimed, who would have purchased assets like cars and houses in the names of their drivers and cooks.

"I am going to create a situation that they would not be able to reclaim it. This is people's money. This has been robbed of the masses and would be used for their welfare," he said. Modi added that people had given him power in 2014 to fight corruption and he would continue to do so.
