FIAT India to Launch The Fastest Hatch In A Month

FIAT Brand isn't performing in the Indian market according to expectations, despite churning out the best of machines with great looks and a strong TANK like build.

But, that doesn't deter FIAT, and it is all set to keep beefing up its portfolio with newer products. The company is all set to launch Abarth Punto slated to be the hotetst hatch and the first to break the 10 second barrier for 0 to 100 km on a straight run, clocking close to 9.5 seconds, much ahead of the Volkswagen's Polo GT TSI. As it is, the Volkwagen brand is now amidst a confirmed allegation of trying to CHEAT EMISSION Standards in the U.S., and if the aftershocks spill over to the subcontinent, it will spell trouble for the German Auto maker.

Abarth Punto is all set to be launched ahead of the upcoming festive season this year and the bookings for the same have already started. Powering this performance-oriented version of the car will be a 1.4-litre T-Jet turbocharged petrol mill that will churn out a whooping 145bhp of power. The same engine will also do duty on the Abarth Avventura which is slated to launch later.

The Abarth Punto will compete head on against the country's only hot-hatch - the Volkswagen Polo GT TSI. The Polo GT TSI derives its power from a 1.2-litre TSI petrol motor that produces 105bhp. So the Abarth Punto, at 145bhp, will be about 40bhp more powerful than the VW's hot-hatchback. This vehicle if corectly priced compaerd to the competition should surely drive attract the petrol heads.
